Mike Mays has been the preaching minister for the church of Christ at Ellendale since July, 2005. Mike and his wife, Margee, have been married 35 years, have one married son, Joshua, and one grandson. Mike and Margee are both native Memphians.
Mike began preaching full-time back in 1977, and has served congregations in Arkansas, Indiana, North Carolina, and Tennessee. His education includes a B.A. degree with a Bible major from Harding College (1969), a Master of Arts degree in religion (1971) and a Master of Theology degree (1978) from Harding University Graduate School of Religion. While completing his education, Mike worked seven years part-time as a youth director.
Community service in which Mike has been involved include work as president of Drug Coalitions in Asheboro, NC, and Covington, TN. He also has coached little league baseball and basketball teams, and served on the Child Abuse Review Team for Tipton, County. His recreational interests include reading, horseback riding and training, movies, and his grandson.
Mike’s primary concern in his work is to please and glorify God by making certain that he is true to the Scriptures in his preaching and teaching, appealing to the Bible as the only authority for our religious faith and practice, and promoting Bible study for the purpose of becoming more and more like Jesus.
